About Itihaas

A passion project to make Indian history accessible, interconnected, and engaging.

What is Itihaas?

Itihaas (इतिहास, meaning "history" in Sanskrit) is a solo project born from a simple frustration: Indian history is incredibly rich, but it's often scattered across textbooks, Wikipedia articles, and academic papers in ways that make it hard to see the bigger picture.

This platform attempts to connect the dots—linking rulers to their dynasties, battles to their consequences, monuments to the people who built them, and places to the events that shaped them.

Why Build This?

Reading about Ashoka is one thing. Understanding how his grandfather Chandragupta founded the empire, how his father Bindusara expanded it, and how Ashoka's own transformation after Kalinga changed the course of Buddhism—that's the kind of connected understanding that makes history come alive.

Itihaas aims to be that kind of resource: one where you can start with any person, place, event, or dynasty and naturally explore the web of relationships that connect them all.

What You'll Find

Work in Progress

This is an ongoing project. Content is being added regularly, and some pages may be incomplete or under construction. If you notice errors, have suggestions, or want to contribute, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing from you.

The goal isn't perfection—it's progress. Every article, every connection mapped, every timeline built brings us closer to a more complete picture of Indian history.
